It seems that Chinese car manufacturers have largely taken over the Russian market, continuing to make their presence felt. The worsening relationship between Russia and the West in recent years, along with the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, is cited as the main reason for this situation. The significant success achieved by Chinese companies in the Russian market in the first quarter of 2024 provides hope for the future. Here are the most important details on the matter…
Chinese car manufacturers continue to dominate the Russian market
With Western brands completely ceasing sales in Russia, Chinese brands saw this as an opportunity and began conducting extensive campaigns and offering large discounts in the country. The impact of this savvy move was officially seen in the sales figures for 2024.
In the first quarter of 2024, out of the top 10 best-selling car brands in the country, a total of 9 were Chinese, with the first place taken by Lada, Russia’s oldest car manufacturer, with approximately 90,000 units sold.
Geely surpassed the 15,000 unit mark in the first three months, while Chery exceeded 13,000 units in the same period. Additionally, the company’s subsidiary brands such as Omoda, Jetour, and Exeed also found their place in the rankings. It appears that Chinese brands will continue to maintain their success in the Russian market in the coming period.
